Students will be working on narrative writing.

Personal Narrative: author writes about a sequenced event or experience in his or her life
Fictional Narrative: author writes about a sequenced event in the form of a story
  • Always include first, next, then, last AND an introduction and conclusion. 
I included 6 pictures. Students will pick one picture and write a story about it. It can be a personal narrative or fictional narrative. Students will complete the planning sheet and compose their writing piece. 

I also attached an anchor chart and examples to help students complete their writing.

***PLEASE NOTE*** : Parents there's no need to print anything out. Students may use lined paper to complete planning sheet and writing. I also included a document where they can type.

Students will be working on informative/informational writing.

We will be concentrating on how to write a "How-to" piece. How-to Writing is the form of
writing that tells the reader how to do something. It explains a process or an occurrence that happens. It gives step by step instructions.

Students may pick whatever topic they want (How to make lemonade, how to ride a bike, etc), complete the planning sheet and compose their writing piece. Students do not need to draw a picture.

Make sure your writing includes: INTRODUCTION, 4 STEPS, & CONCLUSION.

I also attached an anchor chart and examples to help students complete their writing.

Students will be working on informative/informational writing.

We will be concentrating on how to write an "All About" piece. All About writing pieces are
writing papers or books that explain many details about one topic. 

Students may pick whatever topic they want, complete the planning sheet (introduction, 4 facts, and conclusion), and compose their writing piece.

I also attached an anchor chart and examples to help students complete their writing.

Students will be working on informative/informational writing.

We will be concentrating on how to write conclusions: conclude/wrap up your writing.

FOR EXAMPLE: 
  • As Mr. Lee said, “Football is one of America’s most fun traditions”.
  • In conclusion, amphibians are one of the animal groups.
I attached 8 pictures. Students will pick 3 pictures and write a conclusion for each picture. 

I also attached anchor charts and examples to help students write their conclusions.

We will be concentrating on how to write introductions: introducing a reader to a topic/text.

FOR EXAMPLE: 
  • Winter, spring, summer, and fall: which one is your favorite?
  • Ouch! That crab just pinched me! 
  • 70% of the world is the deep, vast oceans that surround the land. 

I attached 6 pictures. Students will pick 2 pictures and write an introduction for each picture. 

I also attached anchor charts and examples  to help students write their introductions.
